We found ourselves in the rare situation of being able to spend a week in Montreal, Quebec with a dear friend who was traveling on business (and thus shall remain anonymous).  All we had to do was pay for our food, so we decided to go.  This is the first of two parts.  We had a great time!

For some reason, the FTP uploader had a hiccup the first time we posted this, and only 10 minutes was posted.  Now, behold, the full 41 minutes of banter, the way it was intended!

It's not that kind of diet! Main Entry: 1di·et Listen to the pronunciation of 1diet Pronunciation: \ˈdī-ət\Function:noun Etymology:Middle English diete, from Anglo-French, from Latin diaeta, from Greek diaita, literally, manner of living, from diaitasthai to lead one’s life Date:13th century. 1 a: food and drink regularly provided or consumed b: habitual nourishment c: the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person or animal for a special reason d: a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one’s weight <going on a diet>2: something provided or experienced repeatedly <a diet of Broadway shows and nightclubs — Frederick Wyatt>

In this case, the 100 Mile Diet is about definitions 1a, b, c and 2, not necessarily the most common use of the word today in relating to a regimen to shed pounds.  There are a LOT of good points about the idea, and in this podcast the Zwei Fat Chicks review the book by James MacKinnon and Alisa Smith and discuss the good, the impractical and a few ways to adapt the idea if needed.
