Sake that we tasted:

Nama-Nama - house sake, a real crowd pleaser

Teion Sakura - white wine-like sake

Genshu Nama-Nama - Full Octane sake goodness!

The good news: Sheila is now working full time.  The bad news: We don't have as much time to go out for lunch anymore (since she's on midnights and is usually asleep while all the lunch specials winnow away).  But, we are going to make an effort to put the podcast out at least bi-weekly, and we recently took a trip to Toronto!

Welcome readers of the out standing webcomic Red String!  We recently started advertising, and Red String was our maiden voyage into the world of ads through Project Wonderful.

This weeks episode is a review of the fancy sushi chain Ichiban and another volume of the Oishinbo series.  Photos to come!

This is a bit of a pot porri, with a short review about a great Persian place in Oshawa called Cyrus, discussion of french presses, fresh made Naan bread from Indian Biyani in Toronto and how to make a tandoori oven right in your own back yard (please follow all local and fire safety laws!).

We greatly apologize for the lateness of our 50th episode, but it couldn't be helped since Sheila spent all of last week in Toronto working security for the G20 Summit.  Here's a great episode for you though, of a rural Ontario tradition - Haugen's BBQ!  They have amazing rotisserie chicken, and are a hub for many car cruises.

This episode we review an regional Ontario chain - Lick's!  We also found *another* all you can eat sushi place in Durham Region that kicks major butt and some tasting notes on Forty Creek Canadian Whiskey.  And if you are from Pittsburgh or are a transplant from that great city, check out the Burghseye View podcast for some candid talk about... well... everything from the 'Burgh.

Spencer came up to visit us the week of St. Patrick's. He's a fan of the podcast so there were a bunch of places he wanted to go, and as if we were going to deny him! The three of us checked out Rolling Pot (no pics, sorry - just check out our previous pictures and superimpose Spencer's jovial face into the scenes of your choice), The Rainbow, Viva Burritos, Go Believe Sushi, Teddy's and picked up pepperettes at the Three Little Pigs. Having him as a guest host and honourary Fat Chick was a blast! Hope you enjoy the episode as much as we enjoyed recording it.

With St. Patrick's being only 17 days away, here are two great pubs that we've scouted out for your pleasure.  This isn't a pub cast (although beer selection is discussed), but focuses on the amazing food of two fine establishments.  Willie Stout's of Toronto makes burgers more then just pub grub, and fosters the community feeling of a "public house".  J.P. Fitzpatrick & Sons offers traditional Irish dishes with a gourmet spin, right next to one of the best movie theaters (in our opinion) of Durham Region.  You don't have to be a beer enthusiast - although it doesn't hurt! - to sit down in either and enjoy a great lunch or dinner.

  • The 19th was Tracy's birthday, so we decided to check out a sushi place that everyone had been telling us about. Sushi Mountain's lunch buffet was awesome!
